1.6 hdi 56 plate. cant start it. I have tried changing the fuel filter, and notice i cant get any fuel into the filter. when i turn the car over no fuel is in any of the pipes. i have also taken the pipes off the pump under the back seat and nothing coming out of those. cant hear the pump primming when i turn the ignition on either. is there a relay? or something else i could try before buying a new fuel pump? the car is also in economy mode now, thanks

It's just a suggestion but could be your immobiliser, factory fitted ones can cut the fuel supply.
Good luck! |

It as possibly gone into econ mode with you turning the engine over and the car not moving.
Have you tried priming the fuel by hand to the engine and then try to start it? It may be of no help but at least it will rule out any kind of blockage etc if you can get fuel to the primer, and its a free elimination apart from a few mins of your time. There is no in tank fuel pump.
Prime the bulb under the engine cover until it is hard and try and start the engine. Otherwise get a diagnostic check done.

Nothing electrical needed here..... if you can't get diesel to the fuel filter & pipes under the bonnet, then there is a blockage somewhere. As David has said, all you need to do is pump with the primer bulb and it should fill it all with diesel, if it isn't, you've got to start tracking backwards until you do manage to find somewhere with diesel in it.

Have you tried un-doing the ring on top of the diesel tank and inspecting inside?
Although there isn't a pump, if its anything like the bottom of the pumps that do go in the tanks, there is a filter/mesh on the base - it could be that yours has something blocking it. I maybe wrong, but if you can't manually get any diesel to the priming bulb, a diagnostic isn't really going to tell you anything.
