I have a new 3008 eHDI and am really happy with it and this is my first post
As I have retired we have now bought a caravan, (I hadn't planned on it when I bought the car) and so that obviously meant a towbar was needed Back to Peugeot for help, told as it was now a service sale and not a new car fit, it would be £900 had a quick think and though "b@@@@@" that, the thought lasted about 1 millisecond by the way Ordered up a towbar and a dedicated electrics fit kit, from PF Jones, great value and great service by the way, based on Peugeot dealer telling me that Peugeots come trailer prepped Fitted the towbar in 25 minutes, dead easy Then the fun started Instructions for electrics said remove panel on left hand side of boot, what it should have said was "now dismantle the rear of your brand new car" Then locate trailer prep harness , it even included a nice picture of what it looks like, I am so pleased they included that, as I still have no idea what it looks like in real life as my Peugeot wasn't trailer prepped at all So back to the dealer who said ooops obviously it isnt trailer prepped then So I had to order an easy fit, dedicated, non trailer prepped wiring kit and live with a 10% restocking fee on the wrong kit Now with the "easy to fit" non trailer prep wiring kit arrived I looked at the rest of the instructions and not being content withn dismantling the rear of the car, now i had to dismantle the carpets, glovebox, fusebox, brake pedal and a whole load more, so much for easy fitting In the end I said sod it and booked it into the trailer specialist, who then told me they fit all the Peugeot towbars for the main dealer in question and they could have done it all for half the dealer price if approached directly I asked about the Trailer stability programme and coding and would i have to go to the dealer to get that done, the answer was no, we have the programme they don't, they would bring it to us and then take it back After asking the salesman the right questions, I now know Peugeot do not factory fit towbars, dealers rarely if ever fit towbars, they are nearly all subcontracted out to local companies So if you want to save loads of hard earned £££££ ask around your dealer who fits their towbars If you are a masochist with a wierd sense of humour then fit the electrics yourself |

Yep, most modern cars of any size now are multiplexed and you simply can not graft electrics into the cars loom like in the old days. And towbars, like He-Man conversions, are indeed almost alaways fitted by a specialist, and the dealer takes a nice percentage on top. Hey, the floor polish in those showrooms don't come cheap!
