Default Rusty 3008

It's been on the road 6 days and I've found rust!

OSR door, inside traling edge, about 6" from the bottom the paint appeared to be 'bubbled'. To the eye it looked like it might be a trace of anti corrosion wax, so I gave it a rub with my thumbnail and the paint came away to reveal about 3cm x 5mm of rust on the seam.

A quick check on the other side shows it just starting to bubble there too.

I'm not exactly chuffed, but there's the warranty to put it right, and the possibility of rejecting it if they try a shonky job, so we'll see how it goes. They'll either do a proper repair or I'll reject the car, so one way or another I'll be sorted (I'd be happy with a well executed, quality repair). Meanwhile, if you have a 3008 make sure you check the same spot on yours just in case it isn't a one off.

I'll keep you all posted.

It's booked in for later in the month when the missus can spare it. Perrys sounded aghast and were mustard keen to get it in this week. But didn't have a loan car available.

In the grand scheme of things its very minor, though I reckon left for a year it'll grow to the edge and become visible outside. A good bodyshop man would have it back to white metal and fix it a treat, but in the event (unlikely I think, but you never know) that they talk about replacing the doors then they can have it back cos you'll never match metallic halfway up the side of a car without a major repaint, and a full or serious partial repaint will always show to those that know what they're looking for.
