Picking up a new 3008 1.6 hdi on Monday. Just wondering, do new cars still need to be run in, or is that just showing my age?

You are showing your age
you do not need to run in just keep revs below 3000 for the first 1000 miles with a couple of short bursts of 3000 |

Yeah, really just drive it normally. Don't get it heavily into boost, and don't hold the same engine speed for any length of time over the first 1000 miles or so and you'll be fine. My HDi has rattled up to 16k miles 9 months and is lapping it up - 47MPG urban today (though it don't 'arf take some concentration!)

When I picked the car up, the salesman said there is no need to do any running in at all. There is no longer a 1000 mile check, and everything is done "in the factory??"

That is Peugeot won't pay the dealers for a 1000ml check!
