if its a manual, you should be able to just pull it up...this is the same on most cars, the bit that you pull is the bit where the leather gaiter is attached the plastic surround.

Dan,
Did you get anywhere with your job of accessing the 12 volt socket.

Looking to do the same myself.

I've had a play on mine, and it don't want to simply pull off.

thats where id got to - so as a last resort and keeping myself anonymous i called my local dealer who basically said that they could use that 'modification' as a way to get out of any problem with the car and invalidate the warranty - as unlikely as the risk is i just didnt take it and ran it externally from the 12v in the back.

This anonymous dealer is talking out of his arse.

Unless the failure is directly attributable to the modification you have made, then the warranty stands. Fitting a hands-free kit and refusing to pay out for HGF, for example, is bollocks. I hope you never actually consider using a dealer like that for anything.

It was more of a 'they'll use any excuse to get out of paying mate' advise - he did say it should just pop up though.

....saying that I did travel about an hour away to a different dealer to buy the car.
