Default Peugeot 3008 Brake Issue

At the 24000 mile service the Peugeot service manager said that the brakes were not releasing correctly on several wheels & would require over 1 hour's work to rectify at a cost of £60 -£80. As the car is approximately 1.5 years old I said surely that should come under the warranty. He said the warranty did not cover this.

Has anyone experienced this problem where the pads do not retract from the disc? Recently one wheel has become particularly bad & is overheating excessively. It will need sorted right away.

Don't think I will be rushing out to buy another Peugeot 3008 Exclusive again!!

Not sure this is unique to 3008s? Our previous 308 had the same problem and I have experienced it with other makes. Muck, Salt etc does tend to get on the Calipers etc and this can cause the Pads stick in the On position (or close to it). If the Discs are running true then there is not enough deviation to keep the Pads moving back and forward so there is a tendancy to stick in the On position. A difficult one but!!!

NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY???? what sort of silly Bollocks is that ????You should have 3yrs -60.0000 mile warranty . Brake wear may not be covered , but faulty brakes certainly are !!! Go & do some Desk thumping & Arse kicking ...No satisfaction>> go & swap for a good car , like a Skoda Octavia Estate !!

A statement like that without knowledge of what the actual cause is pretty misguided.

If the calipers or components are faulty, or incorrectly fitted, it's warranty.

If it's all gunged up and the guidepins etc are simply filthed to death and need a good strip, lick and reassemble, then it ain't. Simples.

Can't see why everyone is so excited.

BTW, going to put new front brakes on mine. At 23k the fronts are getting pretty low, which isn't bad considering it's a heavy car with small over-servo'd brakes. I never re-use discs, so some new rotors will be joining the pads.

"so Sir, you're in here throwing your weight around like a twot, and you want us to work on your brakes?"

Anyone tries that approach needs their bumps feeling.

To save the electronic brake, I always de-activate or dis-arm if I don't really need it or park for a long time period. especially when it is rainy season (and of course if I don;t really need it) to prevent brake pistons locked-up due to corrosion.

Thats interesting...we have a Peugeot 5008 2.0D Exclusive. The rear driver's side wheel smells like its burning a lot, and there's a lot of heat coming from it. This happens on and off all the time. My wife and I think it must be a brake issue with the brakes maybe intermittently sticking

Does this sound like the same problem? We've sent it to Peugeot a couple of times, and they say they can find nothing wrong with the wheels/brakes.

Also...has anyone else had a problem with the car popping out of 1st gear soon after starting up? this happens quite frequently, but again they can find no problem.

I had a similar problem, the disks are spent at 45000km and had to replace it. But I was persistent two-three weeks and I have replaced free.

I have threatened to return the car back. And my money back.

In our case, the burning smell was apparently due to some engine lubricant leaking. there is a box/container of engine lubricant situated on the dirvers side....and ours had a crack in it, and was leaking lubricant onto the wheels/brakes, causing the burning smell!
