Default Paint damage inside rear door frame

Hey Folks,

Has anyone noticed damage to the paint inside their rear door frames?

I've got it on both driver & passenger sides, a line running at an angle upwards towards the inside of the car, just below the level of the window.

It seems to be caused by the seal on the doors themselves. There are two sections of the rubber hose type seal, but the sections are bridged by a much more rigid/plastic piece, and its the contact point of this piece of seal that is causing the damage.

On one side its down to the metal, on the other just primer. Will be contacting my dealer tomorrow to have it sorted under the paint warranty but as it seems to be a design fault I was hoping to see if anyone else has experienced it.

Cheers,

Scott

My first 3008 (Aluminium silver) rusted within a month on the rear doors, on the inside trailing edge where the outer skin is folded back on the inner structure, all along the seam.

As for around the weather strips, mines fine. You can expect such damage after 10 years or so, but so soon...? In the older pugs, like 405's, they used to apply a clear film similar to helitape on the contact point to prevent this.

Snapped a couple of pics of it this morning that I attached.

The first shows the damage to the paint, the second shows the culprit!

Strewth!

Just checked mine - not a mark, so a sigh of selfish relief. Interestingly though, there is no 'hard' insert on my weatherstrips - the lower tubular shaped part of the weatherstrip simply tucks into the upper part on mine.
