Hi. I've just brought a 3008 exclusive with satnav option. I've plugged in my iPod in centre console with a 3.5mm lead but can't control the iPod or get songs displayed etc on satnav. If I want to change a song I have to do so via the iPod itself! Does anyone know how I can get around this?
I heard of a USB device, however I was told it's not compatible with satnav's. Not sure what to do..... Help.... |

You need a special kit to be able to control the pod through the wheel controls.
Doubtless within seconds one of our members will pop up to recommend one...

If you have the RNEG then that's all you get.
It's not Ipod compatable - it's just an external audio input - ie AUX on the audio system. Can be used with any music player with a 3.5 jack output. Not sure if the higher spec NG4 system with the hard drive gets full Ipod connectvity. |

That's a shame. Why would Peugeot have a satnav system with a iPod connection, bluetooth etc and then expect the driver to go into the centre console ( which opens the opposite way) to change a song. Also I would have to remember to take my iPod in- doors to charge everynight as it does not charge while plugged in. Really silly design - thats a real dissapointment for me.
( had to get that off my chest- such a let down, I love my music) I still can't believe there isn't no solution! Does a cd changer work on sat nav display? |

But its not an 'ipod' connection - its an external muisc input.
Not everybody has an ipod you know - a dedicated ipod dock wouldn't suit everyone. I can connect 'another type of phone' to it and leave it to play an album, or random tracks or whatever. Why not just set a playlist or an album playing before you set off - do you really need to see what is playing on a screen? Or can't you do that on an ipod? |

Seeing as the head unit will also play MP3 discs, each of which can hold c.12 albums, it's a bit of a non-complaint.
As aforementioned, they're far from universal and not the single biggest selling make of music player by some margin. Creative are, and you don't hear me bitching about the lack of Creative compatible control interface. Until a universal standard for such interfaces is agreed between device manufacturers, to moan that your car doesn't suit your particular brand of device is utterly ridiculous.

For those who cannot wait (or wait and pay big bucks) for RNEG update 33a (google for RNEG 33a):
Assume your BT device (android, iPhone, Tablet) supports the A2DP protocol 1. Buy a Bluetooth (around 32EUR) to Stereo receiver, connect that one to the mini jack with a mini2mini cable (or if you have a RCA input a mini2RCA cable) Links can be found here B-Speech | Stereo-Headsets & Adapter | B-Speech® Rx2 | • Bluetooth-Devices made by D-PARTS GmbH 2. If you did not already bought one for your mobile: Buy a Cigarette Lighter power adapter and a double conversion cable (miniUSB on Samsung Galaxy and on the mentioned BT2Stereo or if you have lots of them (own a 5008) use another 12 Volt outlet for you B2T Stereo (note that this one is running on Lithium Batteries as well). 3. Pair your phone with the BT2StereoReceiver. Select AUX on your RNEG. 4. Get rid of the USB box if you own (thus bought) one and........ Enyoy (how simple live can be) Simon |

[QUOTE=goldenfemale;50316]Hi. I've just brought a 3008 exclusive with satnav option. A bit more than a month ago I picked up our new 3008. 2 Days before holiday. Thought I could plug in my iPod either into the centre console or into the glove box and, with a bit of luck, operate it from the stalk and have things displayed on screen....did not work, the USB central con.....tried the sockets in the glove box just to find out that the leads I need to plug in prevent me from closing the glove box....disaster.... Work around for the holiday was taking some CD's.... The sound system on ours also has a SD card slot, sadly it does not accept lossless music formats (none of my music is compressed, it's all Apple lossless) so I now got a 32 GB card and transferred some music onto it, using dpPoweramp (an encoding program), to encode my music into compressed :-( mp3 (as the sound system can only accept up to 320 bps at variable bit rate (dpPoweramp thinks its an extreme setting but...), works well, sounds okayish but.... As even compressed, 32 GB is not enough, I transfer some Classical music now on the inbuilt hard disk, seems I have to make my own folders (and name them! :-(( ) there to keep things organized, instead of just inserting a card or DVD or CD and press a copy button (as in: copy all and preserve folders).....does not seem to be very user friendly (music business and copy right issues, I guess), but, after it is done it is just great to switch from Jukebox (Classical) to SD (Contemporary) and then use the twirly wirly on the stalk to choose or change from one folder (or CD) to another......having 2 locations also does make it easier to find what I want to listen to as I go.....takes a bit of time to scroll down a 100 entries...arranged alphabetically...... So, all in all, after the first disapointment, similar to yours, I am now quite happy with..........even more as I can additionally make Playlists in iTunes (as long as I not forget about the compression issue), copy them onto DVD's and inser......to have another source of musi.....on the go... PS I had to rename my folders as the sound system seems not to be able to sort music by either Album nor Artist....so, a new entry might be 'J. Hendrix - Live at The Royal Albert Hall' for the folder (instead of 'Live at the Royal Albert Hall').....or 'A.F.Toure - Niafunke' (instead of ''Niafunke') or....bit of work I did not expect nor like..... I don't control it from the stalk. I set it going and dump it in the glovebox. alternatively, I have an MP3 disc with 11 of my favourite albums and the 3008 happily munches on that, with full control.
