We are more or less committed to buying a 3008, but being old fashion I am very wary of this electronic brake and reliability. What if it locks on? You are then stuck!
Driving a 3008 you probably would not pass your advanced driving test as you have to apply the handbrake prior to switching off the engine and wil probably forget to do this. LoL!Also in conventional cars a handbrake can be used to slow the car down in the event that your brakes fail, but not sure about the 3008. What is your opinion on an electronic handbrake? |

I've been driving an Exclusive snce May and get on fine with the brake. You can apply it while the engine is still running, or it will auto activate when you stop the engine. The auto activate and auto de-activate, when you pull away, can be disabled in the setup menus if you wish.
I think if it fails it's designed to fail to off, and there's a warning light to tell you. In an emergency, if you pull the handbrake and hold it on it will apply the brake to stop the car, the ESP helps keep the car stable. Not done this - have read the manual! |

Thanks. Never knew of an electronic hand brake until I test drove the Peugeot 3008. I test drove a C4 today but the handbrake is on the dashboard in the middle meaning you had to reach forward to activate it. Did not like the car at all!

The system has now been used on several PSA vehicles and has proven pretty reliable. After all, you're equally stuffed if a conventional handbrake fails to disengage - it's rarer in this day and age of rear discs, but still not unheard of.
You quicly adapt to it and its a neat system to use. Dab the button to engage, and it disengages very neatly when you pull away. My only teensy gripe is that it won't disengage until you feed in a touch of throttle, so if I'm trying to line it up on the driveway and fine-tune it using only the clutch the handbrake remains stubbornly on, but its not really a big deal.
