Default Chrome strip blistering

I've an Exclusive which has the chrome add-ons, including a shiny strip that runs along the sills.

Making the most of the nice weather this morning I was out cleaning the car, and taking off all the tar spots that have built up over the winter. I noticed that the nearside chrome strip is blistering all the way along. It's not broken the finish anywhere yet, but just bubbled up. The offside strip is fine.

Assume this is something that will be covered by warranty?

Almost certainly covered by the warranty. As I don't have the sill strips are they plastic chrome or metal? In other words is the bubbling the 'chrome' lifting from its plastic base or is it rust?

Don't know - quite possibly plastic. It's not rusting, it's like air bubbles underneath, like a sticky transfer with air bubbles undermeath. It's not the same as the chrome on the mirrors or underneath the bumbers - more I think about it the more I think it probably is plastic.

its probably the plastic chrome coming off its base. Can be caused by dirt when the chrome layer was put onto the base or even a bit of damp getting between the layers. The only reason I know is my last car which was a Vectra had the same thing on the grill after a month of being new. It was replaced FOC and Vauxhall wanted the old one back to find out the cause. The reason given were as I said above.

Take it back and ask them to do it under warranty, it may not be bad now but it may get worse.

Yep, it's a warranty job.

Interesting to note that the chrome backing on the official accessory mirror covers for the 407, 207 and 308 also suffers the same fate after while.

Dealer picked it up from home this morning, dropped back this afternoon with new chrome strip, software update (don't know what for - I wasn't at home), and some 'recall' items done - a fuel hose to check for chafffing I believe, amongst others.
