The issue is that it is broken.

The cure is to take it to a dealer and let them repair it under warranty.

Dealer will not even solve the problem, have been driving Toyota Avensis for the past 5 yrs and did not take Gear to any mechanic ,not a single problem, changed to Peugeot 307 and i am already sick of the gear box issue, put to drive and it goes to reverse, anyway to your answer took my to dealer and they told me they don't have mechanics there who can fix auto gear box and they normally collect and takes to wayside auto gear box mechanics to fix for them,so why waist your time to take it to dealer?go to outside mechanics they are much best and better.don't ever waist your time and money on dealers.

Because if it`s under warranty then the Dealer has to fix it at his cost .

Unlike older pugs, it is not an auto box but an automated manual, or MMT, box.

In mechanical terms they are little different to a manual, with the exception of an actuator mechanism and some electronics to control the whole caboodle.

Proper auto boxes with torque converters are indeed the preserve of specialists, and there are probably only a few dozen such outfits genuinely qualified to work on them properly in the UK. The MMT box can be worked on my any spanner monkey with 2 hands.

As aforementioned, they are contractually obliged to fix it, and in the event the dealer genuinely can't get to the bottom of it PSA will send one of their top profs down from HQ to look at it. A 307 is a different kettle of fish, and the box will need oiking off to a specialist. The same way a Ford auto box, a Bentley auto box, or a Toyota auto box would.

My gearbox problem is different: to overtake kickdown works ok, but gearbox does not change back up again - I have to change up manually.
