Default 3008 Sat Nav Roundup

It seems that the 3008 Sat Nav raises quite a few questions so i thought I'd start a thread just for this topic

Here's mine:
  1. Can anyone help me change the names in my destinations list? I'd like to have something like "Marina" rather than the full address starting with "GB: .."
  2. Can anyone help me find the safety cameras? My dealer is investigating at the moment but I guess it isn't going to be cheap

Many thanks
Howard

Afternote:
My dealer & Peugeot came up trumps - as a goodwill gesture they upgraded the software to the version with "safety" cameras incuded and it's great!

--- Thanks guys

i cant help with the first question but for the second question (safety cameras)

i know with garmin, you have to pay a yearly subscription (£30) to receive and updated file of all static and mobile camera sites. maybe this is the same on the 3008, but i can only see that happening if you have a removable SD card.

This is one of the reasons I never spec Satnav on a car.

That, and because it's usually dated within a year or so and can be difficult to upgrade.

I downloaded safety camera info last year for £5 from www.peugeot-connect-downloads.co.uk - but the site is currently offline for maintenance. It was simply a case of copying the file onto the SD card.

Hi Mate
Any chance you could email the file you downloaded to me at Howard@THToon.com please?

I'm still chasing the dealership about it.

Post Script Many thanks for your prompt help Andy - I'll keep you informed of how I get on.

Default Safety Cameras

I've done a little bit of work using the Peugeot safety camera update to the 3008 SatNav. It's awful!

A number of local, well established, cameras aren't in the database.

The speeds on those that are in the database are ridiculous. One camer is in a 70 but warns for 50; one is a 40 but reports as 37; one is a 30 and reports as 25. What on earth is going on?

I contacted NavTeq but they're not interested. They said that it's their material but they don't support it on Peugeots!

Has anyone else any information on this?

I recall seeing something about the speeds being screwed up in a km/miles conversion, but don't know if that's right. Mine's always done that, but I'm not too fussed so long as it shows a camera as being there - I generally know what speed I should be doing!

It picks up all the ones in my area - I think maybe once or twice its missed one when I've been away but my data is nearly a year old now.

Anyone have a more up do date file they can send?
