Hi
I understand the FAP system but there are two things about it that I would like help with please. One...... Does the driver get informed by a display when the system is operational or does it just get on with it itself without telling the driver? Two..... When the FAP decides it needs cleaning manually or needs more fluid where does it tell the driver. Is it on a dash display where the trip is or is it on the radio display area? 3008 diesel sport Thanks for any help

If it's working properly, you'll know nothing about it until the FAP becomes irretrievably clogged through mileage, or until the ELOYS fluid requires topping up, then they system quite happily lets you know.

Where does it let me know? On the dash or the radio display screen? Not that I expect it to happen for quite a while I have looked in the handbook but it's not the best I have seen

It'll go 'beep' and flash a message up on the MFD.

Yup, the 8 year old 407 will do that.

So if my 5yr old 407 does it, and that is with the most up-to-date software, what have they done to the 3008 to improve this?

My last car was a 54 plate 407 136 Hdi - at the same time my father had an 05 plate 407 136 Hdi :-
Every 500 miles or so my fathers would stutter and run rough for a few minutes, just like jmkent describes. My 407 however never did it even once in the 23,000 miles or so I put on it. My father did a reasonable mileage, but he drove 'steadily' lets say. I tend to drive using the full range of the engine, and don't hang about. Probably costs me in mpg but that's the way I drive. I've done 10,000 miles in my 150 Hdi 3008, and have never had the 'stuttering'. Is far as I understand, if there is enough heat generated during normal driving, the particulates will burn off naturally. If there is not, then the system will clean istelf accordingly. Nothing to do with software, and I wouldn't be surprised if the 3008 isn't just the same. |

Lets be honest, it's a dire system on the 407, even when it's working, and most diesel pugs since have been better.
