Hi,
Im looking for some advice I have been given the chance to have a 3008 1.6 (diesel) Exclusive as a company car and have a choice of either the 1.6 Hdi 112 6 Speed Manual engine or 1.6 E-Hdi 112 EGC engine. The manual has higher emissions, lower mpg and a lower monthly leasing cost and the EGC version is the exact opposite, lower emissions, more mpg and more expensive per month! I have driven the EGC on a short test drive round town (and it was ok) but my journey to / from work is approx 40 miles motorway and 10 miles on 30mph roads. Can anyone suggest which version may be better for me please. Thanks Adam |

It's a company car - choose the one with the lowest emissions to reduce the arse raping from the tax man.

Ours is a company car sponsored by Peugeot,
We could only have a Peugeot, and it had to be a 3008, but, with whatever motor or extras, so, apart from the missing leather seats (do not like them), it is top spec. I loved the engine in our previous 307 (1.6 L Diesel) which after 40 000 km used around 5.6 L per 100 km (leave it to you to convert into Miles per Gallon), so the 1.6 L Diesel it was, with the automated 6 speed gear box. On motorways I stick generally with the speed limits in Europe (130 km/h + 10 km/h ;-)....on mountain roads I sometimes turn into a maniac...trying to drive like I ride my motorbike... Got delivery of the 3008 2 days before our 4 weeks holiday in the Alps Maritimes, Southern France. In economy mode the automated gear box is fine on motorways. On mountain roads (we did about 6 000 km during that holiday, just think Col de Turini of Rally Monte Carlo fame) it is just awful in economy mode. Selecting the sports mode and then using the paddles on the steering wheel for going down the gears before a hairpin bend (as an example) made me kind of smile again.....despite fuel consumption going up to around 7.8 L per 100 km. The 1.6 L engine with the automated gear box would be my choice again....despite fuel consumption being up currently by 0.3 L/100km as compared to the 307...due to weight and size and....
