Ford updates Transit van

The upgraded Transit van range of which Ford has released details has new front front end styling, improved suspension which cuts NVH by 20%, new steering components, a re-designed interior, and a dash-mounted gear lever. Seven new Euro 4-compliant engines.

include six Duratorq TDCi diesels and one LPG-compatible petrol engine. The diesels, the first LCV units developed by the partnership between Ford and PSA Peugeot Citroen, include new 2.2-litre and 2.4-litre units matched to either five-speed or six-speed ?Durashift? manual transmissions.

The Transit updates anticipate the new ranges of heavy vans due from the DaimlerChrysler-VW joint venture arrangement later this year.
