Thumbs down Rear brake calipers

First post so please be gentle!

I tried to replace the rear pads on my 207 tonight and struggled!
Basically, I was easily able to take the caliper off but I can't get the piston back in. I've been reading about screwing it back in and although I screwed it back slightly (clockwise), it did go back in slightly, but then it just keep turning without moving back in.

I'm simply using a pair of strong long-nose pliers and twisting it in, but it doesn't seem to move in after the initial retraction.
Is it just a case of pushing the piston in as I turn??
It just seems an impossible job.

Any help appreciated.

You really need a caliper wind back tool, from halfords or somewhere like that or you'll be pi$$ing into the wind. They do turn and push the piston back at the same time clockwise.

Many thanks for that. Will look one out this morning.
Never heard of one of those before - just shows you how things change and what extra kit you need!

Halfords have them online but hardly any of their stores have them in stock. Looks like a hunt for me.

He's right. A good winding tool allows you to apply the proper, measured pressure while screwing them back.

Oh, you didn't say you need a pair of these rewind tools!
One side is right handed thread and the other is left handed!

Managed to do it though with one tool once I understood how it operated.
Thanks guys!
