Default Hesitation on Acceleration When Cold

Just wondering of anyone had experienced anything similar to me and if anyone has any suggestions..

I have a 207 1.4 16v and its recently developed a problem where when I start if from cold and start to accelerate away the engine hesitates for a couple of seconds and the revs drop right down before accelerating again. It does this pretty much every time I start it from cold and sometimes even stalls completely.

I've had a mechanic look at it and he has given the car a full service, cleaned the throttle body out and added an additive to the fuel; however this doesnt seem to have resolved the issue. He's also checked the ECU for any fault codes but there isnt anything showing up.

I've had a look this morning to check there arent any loose hoses and cables etc, but not being a mechanic, dont really know what I'm looking at.

If anyone has had a similar issue and managed to resolve it or if anyone has any ideas for me to try, I'd be really greatful to hear them!

Try disconnecting the MAF sensor electrical plug and see if it drives better.

Does the software update need to be done by a main dealer, or is it something which can be done by a local garage or even myself?

Think I'll try disconnecting the MAF sensor first before I pay for a main dealer to update the ECU. Is the MAF sensor on the back of the part labelled on the attached image?
