Fuel Warning Light Problem

Hi,
I have just bought a 2006 207 HDi S and filled the tank but after 50 or so miles whilst the petrol gauge was still showing over 7/8 full the fuel warning light came on and now i can't get it to switch off. Anyone know what may be wrong or how i can rectify it??

could be problem with your unit....get it hooked up to planet and see if there are any problems that will cause this
