ESP warning light. 207cc

My ESP waring light has come on and the EPS button is illuminated and beeps when I try and press it. I had to break really sharply last week when an old dear pulled right out in front of me, could it be related, and is it an expensive fix? I've also had a knocking noise around the nearside front whenever I go over a bump. My local garage says it could be the shock but his not 100% sure, whereas the noise seems to be almost coming from inside the passenger door. Is there anything in there that could come loose and still work while making a noise. With thanks for any help.

Get a diagnostic check. Post faults up here.
