Default Error Codes P0500 & U0121 HELP!!!

Hi everyone,

A newbie here,a few days ago turned my 2008 Peugeot 307 & all of a sudden all hell broke loose!!! Power steering went,anti-pollution/faulty brakes message came up + STOP on the dash & to make things worse the Speedo has died, car runs ok but looks like a Christmas tree on the dash & it beeps quite a lot !!
Took it to a local garage today & they gave me the fault codes :
P0500 & U0121, they said that it was something to do with the ECU? & that I will have to take it to a dealership, chap said it will cost a lot to get fixed...!
Has anyone else had this problem? I really haven't got any funds at the moment to shell out to a dealer, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I've already posted this, the instructions are clear on it:

How to: Contact a member for Peugeot Planet Diagnostic

After that click on the PEUGEOT PLANET MAP thread. There is a Google map showing the location of members.

Find the one closest to you and send them a PM (Private Message).
