Default Drop links

Does anyone know if the nuts on the front drop links are supposed to point towards the tyre or inwards towards the engine?

Can anyone else confirm this? My car was making clunking sound from the nearside front when going over certain types of bumps in the road. I ordered a new drop link and discovered that the previous link was the wrong one. I had to fire the new one in quickly 'cause it started snowing. Although there is a dramatic improvement I don't think the clunking has been completely cured.

If someone could have a look at their own car and tell me for sure which way the nuts point on the nearside it would be much appreciated.
