Default cooling issues

Hi

I have a 207 Gt on a 2008 plate .

I have noticed a change in my temp gauge over the last few weeks.

Traditional the gauge would sit between 70 & mid 80's . When the gauge hit about 90 the fan would kick in & the gauge would drop down to 70 the fan would cut out & the cycle would start again .

What has been happening is when the car gets up to temp from cold the gauge gets to 90 & the fan kicks in & stays in but the temp gauge does not drop down ?

The car performs normal except for the above . The coolant level is ok .

Any help on this matter appreciated .

Faulty temperature sensor? That seems to be a common issue.
