Hi I have a 207 56 plate & I have a clunking noise while driving on my rear nearside, sounds like it's coming from the or near the rear wheel, can anyone suggest what might be the cause? It started off as a kind of swishing noise & is now a definite clunk!!

It's not mega loud or anything, but definitely discernible above the engine noise and it is getting worse, suppose I should really get it checked out..................

Thanks Joe, exhaust would be the obvious answer but it is on the offside & the noise is definitely coming from the rear nearside wheel, unless there is a bracket or something there????!!!!

Check the nut at the bottom of the shock is tight , you`ll have to jack it up to see.

Hi Guys,
Many thanks to all who replied, it WAS the exhaust!! the back bracket had rusted through, took it to local exhaust centre who said I would need a new back box & centre box, but they couldn;t supply it & I'd need to go through Peugeot. Phoned Kwikfit who said bring it in, new back & centre box £270 + fitting but exhaust absolutely fine but you can't buy just the brackets!!!!(needed one that supported the back/centre box as well as back one) Anyway(bear with me!) the manager did a temp repair which may or may not get me through the MOT next month, he strapped up the exhaust at the back & did a spot of welding & put a bracket(?) on the join between back & centre box. Has done the trick was in for ~50mins & the guy didn't charge me anything, just said to come back to him when I need a new exhaust!! What a star, restores your faith in humanity - & Kwikfit!! Thanks again to everyone who responded. |

you can buy the mounts, all be it at the dealer only...i know coz i have been there and from what i am told the exhaust systems are all the same for all the models. the price may have been high due to having a cat in the middle...i got a back box for £108 with fitting and vat. the mounts were £4 each and there were 2
