Depends if she was tanking it down the motorway, town driving or just sat in the car whilst it was idling

If she was flying down the motorway the valves will have stayed in the cylinders and the pistons will have sheared them.

If she was town driving then they may be able to be fixed as they could possibly only be bent.

If she was sat there while the car was idling, then the valves are most likely just bent and can be bent back by a mechanic.

Not a nice thing for the timing belt to go.

Not sure whether there's much difference with the timing region between your daughters car and my uncles beefy LDV truck but his was idling, timing belt went, and bent the valves. A local mechanic just bent them back apparently and all was good. (obviously he had to replace the belt etc.)

Hope this helps.

Is it a 1.4 16 valve?
I've seen this a few times. The belt becomes frayed on the outer edge.

Depends on your luck with a cambelt snap. I have had them in snapped on the motorway and they have only bent one valve. You wont bend them back so forget about that. Depending on how many are bent they will need replacing. A belt can snap at any mileage. The replacement guide is all it is. Just a guide. I always change my belt early.

There is a modified timing belt kit part number. Can dig out but need last eight numbers of chassis.
