Default 207 vti 120 hp 1.6 anti pollution fault, timing chain ?

HI
I have just bought a 207 1.6 vti sport (120hp) and after a few days the anti pollution fault came on and a day later the engine management light, got codes read P1336, P1339, P1340 and P0420 all seem related to cam position sensor but have seen a few reports of timing chain problems with the turbo engine that appears to cause this sort of issue, can anyone tell me if it is likely to be the same witht his non turbo engine and if so what is required to fix the fault, by the way it seems a great car to drive hence my wish to repair rather than get shut.
should I go for the timing chain repairs or try a new cam position sensor ? car did miss a little whilst on motorway day before it showed these faults however it sounds as sweet as a nut now and runs pretty well, just slightly low idle speed and feels very weak (mixture not power) when starting from cold.

Default 207 vti problems

HI David,

33811039 are last eight digits

do you know if the non turbo engine suffers the same camshaft issues that the turbo engine does, i.e. sprockets moving on camshaft etc

Thanks

p1336 Combustion misfiring on unspecified cylinders fault : Not characterised
p1339 Combustion misfiring on cylinder 3 fault : Not characterised
p1340 Combustion misfiring on cylinder 4 fault : Not characterised
p0420 Catalytic converter ageing fault : Loss of effectiveness

Ok, well you need a catalytic converter first of all. regards p code 0420.
This is common. There is a software update for this problem if caught early.
As regarding other faults i'm not sure as i can't see/hear the engine running.

Thanks David,

any idea what the problem could be ? I have been told cat might be cleaned by driving hard, above 4000 rpm but dont know what to do about misfiring, is it possible to reset and see if fault comes back ?

No you'll need a cat. They are expensive though. It comes as part of the manifold. They are 570 euros in ireland.
Yes clear the faults and see what happens.

Yes the dealer should know about it. I've done a few in the last few months, preventative downloads.
Software comes off the server in France.

HI david,
when I google the fault codes (before posting on here) it cam back with cam position sensor fault and idle speed sensor fault, this made me think it could be valve timing problems, I have seen sevral reports about camshaft sprockets slipping ? they appear to be a press fit on camshafts with no pin to lock them in place, just wanted to be able to rule this out so that I am not doing a days work trying to sort out vavle timing if its a misfire problem, are the codes from peugeot ? if a misfire I will get reset and see what happens, if code for cat comes back I may be forced into replacing cat, I have seen pattern ones advertised for around £150, ps anyone from leeds area with peugeot planet that might be able to help with a fix for this car, really want to get it sorted out.
Thanks to anyone that can help
