Default 207 door has lost its detents

The drivers door on my 207 has lost its detent positions - the two points a which it "clicks" before it is fully open.

I'm struggling to figure out how it works but it seems to all happen in and enslosed quadrant-shaped metal box just underneath the top hinge.

There are some holes in the bottom of the box and looking at the working door it appears that the mechanism inside the box should remain fairly fixed as the box moves with the opening of the door. On the broken door, the internals move with the box so I guess something is bust inside.

The box seems to be rivited to the hinge so it doesn't look like a straightforward job. No mention in the Haynes manual of course.

Any advice or observations would be gratefully received.

Well I have no direct experience of the car you mention but the usual way this works it a metal bar that runs from the door through the box you mention. The bar has wider points on it that look like small hills on it (usually 2) this bar is squeezed between a fixed roller and and a heavily sprung pinch roller. This causes the resistance you feel on the door as the "hill" on the bar is approached and the release when it pops through the rollers. Usually these rollers are static and it sounds like one part of them has come off

Thyanks James.

Peugeot dealer has quoted £120 to get it fixed so I think I will live with it.
