Post 207 Changing Bulbs behind Fan & Temperature Controls

Hi all, one of the bulbs behind the temperature knob has gone and its actually quiet annoying in the night as i do drive quiet a bit. i just have no idea of how to get it the above compartment comes out and i even took out the cd player and i still have trouble finding it or even locating it. So any help here would be very much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you

Hi.

You have to prise the side strips from the centre console (the silver strips which I have circled in red for you) they pull forwards towards you,, be careful though as not to break them.

Once they are removed you will see the Screws behind the strips that allow you to remove the heater panel

Hope this helps..

Hi Stuart Thanks for that i will give that a try thank you. I can see from the picture that your heater controls are the digital ones as in the knob is like the volume button of the cd player however i have the old looking ones which makes the look a bit old fashioned do you think i would be able to fit one of those in? would it be worth the hassle? Thanks once again.

You can't go changing between 'old' heater knobs and the 'new' climate control type panel ..... there is one hell of a lot of things required behind the scenes other than just a panel

Did you remove the smaller strip just below the heater panel with the Locking Button in it?

If not loosen that first then lift it down and you should then be able to remove the Heater Panel.

Like already said it would be a major thing to try and swap the panel over to the Climate one, to be honest that was just a pic I downloaded and edited with the red circles to try and show you what to undo.
I have the same panel as you with the 3 dials

Hi stuart i have completely taken out the bottom strip of the door lock controls and have also taken out the cd player and also that empty compartment just above the heater controls. whatever happends it just wont slide out it will slide backwards tho i have tried fitting it through but it keeps catching on to a plastic bulge that is on the heater control even taking of the front panel of the heater controls makes it very hard as that is where the bulbs are located because of the clips all around it. i think 2 clips on top and bottom and also one on each side without pulling it out, it makes it very hard to pull of the face of it.

Btw the second bulb has gone im left in the dark in the car. this is bad times.

Regards

Right then Nabeel see if this helps you any more matey.

I have just lent a Haynes Manual for you as it was a month or so ago when I did mine.

1, unclip the 2 side strips.
2, remove 2 scres and remove switch panel below heater panel.
3, unclip storage panel above heater panel.
4, undo 2 screws, release the retaining clips and tilt the control panel forward and then manoeuvre it out of the console.

You should be able to access the bulbs now but if not and you have to remove the panel all together then the last step is.

5, disconnect the wiring connectors from the rear of the panel, NOTE the fitting locations of the cables (the end fittings are colour coded) and then unhook the cable retaining clips and the panel will now be fully released.
