They`ll do a diagnostic first then inform you what they found before they rape you

It does sound worse , you could be lucky with just a sensor (50 maybe) but sounds more ABS pump or ECU

ps if you were near someone here that could plug it in you`d save money there

Most cars have problems with abs sensors , did you check your brake fluid ?

Default ABS fault

Had this problem - now fixed peugeot quoted me about 700. What i did was send my abs unit away for referbishment (tell me if you want the web address) it cost about 200 it total. I fitted it myself so that saved about 100. If you want any other info just ask

Default 207 ABS fault

My wife's car is a 207 1.4 56 reg, it had the abs problem last summer when it had only done 26K miles. Symptoms were abs warning light, loss of power steering and speedo, warning to stop immediately etc. Local Pug dealer charged me 570 to fix it. Tried complaining to Peugeot but got response that it was two months overdue for service (on time not mileage) and despite having been serviced by main dealer they wouldn't budge. I told them that nothing in the service schedule could affect the life of this component and this was the last Peugeot we would buy and have told everyone we know about this disgraceful situation.

I understand that there was a BBC "watchdog" programme about this issue.
