Default 07 207 1.4 hdi power steering problems

Ive got an 07 plate 207 1.4 hdi and is having problems with the power steering, It seems to stiff at times when driving and pulling slightly. I got into it the other day started it and it was like i had no power steering, very stiff to steer, within say 30 second it powered up and was fine. does this sound like the pump or something else???

If it has the electric steering system, then have battery and alternator tested

i got same problem but i only ever get it when i start the car from cold and just like yours the problem dissapears after the engine is warm and running for a bit. could it be power steering fluid? just a random guess. i drive a 56 207 1.4 hdi.

More likely to be battery related than fluid related.... especially if OK after a few seconds after starting... the battery will have more power then after what was needed for starting

In my 207 they dont have power steering fluid, its an electric pump, The cars back in the garage as wee speak, could be the motor on rack, on way to taking it to garage the steering went all stiff on motorway as if it didnt have any power steering. Strange one

How do you mean it doesn't have fluid? If its a pump, it needs fluid to pump ... even the electric ones (my 407 has one)

The electric motor is bolted straight onto the rack. No fluid.
