Default Year 2000 206, 1.1lx

Hi Guys,
We have the above motor, she really is in great shape for the age and only 54000 km on the clock. 2 small but irritating issues I have are as follows,
1.The handbrake light flashes on and off when driving, only this light. Car was serviced very recently, brakes etc checked, is it a switch issue and if so how do I access the switch?
2.Somehow there is water getting in under the back seat and in the boot area, I have fired a hose over the hatchback but could not see any leaks. Could it be coming upm from underneath. I think it is comong in around the boot because the well under the rear seat is lower than the boot well, hence water doesn't flow up!Maybe this is a common fault!
Any help would be greatly apprecated, thanks.

Sounds like the switch. When the handbrake is off (released) give it a wiggle with the ignition on and see if the light flicks on and off.

Handbrake issue sounds very like this common issue that happens the indicators. They stay on and it's because the contacts have been worn down and the metal filings close the circuit between them so turning them on:

Not the same problem obviously but you may show this to your repair guy who could should where the contacts for the handbreak light are (or buy the hayes manual?)

I know that's not the solution on a plate but I hope it's a starting point!

For the water issue, I suggest folding the back seat forward and have two people inside the car (having dried it thoroughly) then have a third person start hosing one section at a time very methodically. HTH.
