Default speedometer not working after clutch replace

Hi,
We got a 206 CC, 2002 back after repair. They have replaced the clutch.
After this the speedometer do not work. They claim they "can not have done any wrong".

We have replaced the connector/spedometer drive, next to gearbox.

https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BzB...thkey=CMfl17gL

Still not working.

I am convinced that they have made some mistake assembling the gearbox after changing clutch but have no experience in this.

Most grateful for any idea or comment. Is it possible to assemble wrong?

Regards

The speedo drive goes into the gearbox, they would of had the gearbox off to do the clutch. They broke it.

Thanks!
Do you mean the cable (it is electric) from connector to instrument? Or some internal, mechanic, between/inside gearbox and connector?

The connector is replaced and I could not see any obvious damage on the cable, but of course possible.

The only internal I can see that they could be close(?) is the "TACHOMETR SCREW" marked "1" in picture above. But I can not see where this screw connects in gearbox. Wonder if they really had to be close to this when changing clutch?

Not sure but if it worked before they had it I wouldn't let them off with it!

They have broken the drive in the gearbox when removing/refitting the right hand driveshaft. Seen it before. Or they simply forgot to plug the pickup in.

Fig 1 in your diagram is the plastic gear which drives the speedo sender gear. This has two lugs on it which locate in the diff. It's very easy to break these if you're not careful. It's not an expensive part and would only take tham 45 mins to change. Make them fix it!

Update 2011-04-21:

I failed with "Bertils Bilverkstad i Norrköping" (Sweden). The worst mechanic/garage i met.

Another garage corrected their failure and now my mother in law is angry but happy again. Thanks for your support!
