Post Newbie needs advice

Hi everyone, newbie here needing some advice. Have just bought a peugeot 206 03 plate, firstly, clock display (3 bulb) very dull and flashing, so reset the time and date still dull but time right. turned engine off while I went in shop, clock didn't hold time and needs setting again, second problem, fan only works on setting 4, car radio was stolen a few months ago, wires cut, no radio yet but could the wires being cut have caused these problems or do I need to address each problem separately, any advice would be fully appreciated

Hi there

Thought I would say hello as nobody else seems inclined to do so

I was wondering if your "losing time" issue comes from the cut wires.

If the clock is not fed with a permanent 12V it will lose time when the ignition is turned off I suppose.

I would start by checking the various wiresd feeding the clock unit

Thankyou so much for your reply, did some research and found that the wire being cut would have more than likely caused a fuse to blow, so I checked the fuses under steering wheel and no'4 fuse had blown, clock display working fine now, I also found a website that shows instructions on how to remove the resister from behind glove compartment, probable cause of fan not working, my next job and then its to the scrap yard for a radio harness to add onto whats left of the one in the car. Not looking forward to doing that, thanx again for your reply though

hi and welcome...we have loads of threads on here and so little time, so a few threads will go a miss.

but good for getting the clock sorted again.

your fan will be the resistor pack, there is a guide on this forum for that...take a look under the how to sections.

shame your car was broken into. you going to do soldering or lazy method of connectors?

I have got a soldering iron from when my first peugeot display unit broke, and I have bought connectors because my brother in law said he would do the radio for me, so depends who gets time to do it first, didn't see the how to section, will look for it now, thankyou
