Default new clutch,new cable,no gears

hi folks,i have just replaced the clutch cable as i thought that was the problem.it transpired that it was the clutch.i have now replaced the clutch(complete kit.)now the problem is that it only engages gear at the very top of the clutch pedal travel pretty much with your foot of and is slipping as well.as i replaced the cable 1st i am wondering and hoping that it is a cable problem.i really need her up and running asap.all help will of course be greatly appreciated.tia.1999 pug 206 1.1,155k

cable was fitted before clutch brand new,so i dont really know if anything could be wrong,it feels ok under foot.

i changed the clutch myself,i have done quite a few as i reckon i am competant enough.this has me stumped though as i reckon its put in ok

I think you may have the clutch disc on backwards.

Is there any adjust in the cable either at the gearbox end or possibly at the top of the clutch cable not sure on pugs but i know some fords have a twin half cog type thing at the top of the peddle witch would need resetting to take up any slack in the cable hope this helps.
