Dear all.. I don't have a lot of experience with cars. I've owned by 206 (2002) for about an year and half now. it has not been serviced yet. I have never had any issues and passed the MOT without problems.
Past few days, my hand brake light keeps coming off along with the STOP light and goes off immediately. it looks more like a loose connection to me as neither of the lights stays on for long. I read in other websites where people say that this could be due to low braking fluid. Could someone please tell me how to check this myself and whether I can top up the fluid myself. As I said I have not serviced the car since I bought it and currently not in a position to spend a lot of money servicing it.

in the engine bay, at the top near the middle....if your not sure check your owners manual...this will also tell you what spec fluid you need.
if your brake fluid is low, chances are your brake pads need replacing...this is the major reason for low fluid. money is nothing when it comes to safety in this manor...please get your brakes professionally checked. on another note, brake fluid is horrible stuff...wear gloves and dont get it on your paintwork as it will strip it.
