Wifes car batt was flat last night so I put in on charge on the car. i'e.didnt disconnect any cables. All connections clean and bright...Took the charger off this morning and it started fine. However from starting up and stopping my missus started altering the dashboard clock thingy...time date etc...Now when she takes out the key the fuel needle jumps up and down, the picture of an engine is lit up, the temp guage goes up and down, the mileage numbers flash on and off and then a load of dashes then the mileage again.the battery picture is lit up...This is all without the key in the ignition..WTF
Someone suggested its in test mode whatever that means |

Could be a spike in the BSI , need diagnostics done , you should have disconnected cables.

I agree with Betty,
it may be worth a bsi reset who knows you maybe lucky... Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off. Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition. Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds. Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.). Switch on the side lights through the driver's window. Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds. Remove key open & close door test central locking system. Start the engine and complete the system's check.

I tried the bsi reset procedure until the missus told me the key fob battery has been dead for a while and she uses the key to lock/unlock so I put in new fob battery and locked the doors with the remote. everything now back to normal...It appears that the remote had to be used to complete some cycle I suppose....thought this was going to be expensive but cost £1.50 for fob battery and £40 for car battery.
Thanks for your input |
