Hi Guys,
Ive come on the forum to see if i can find an answer to my problem with my 206(Im half tempted at a gallon of petrol and a match but that wont do our insurance premiums any good now will it lol) ill tell you the full story as it may all be relevant. apologies if its not So...my mrs said that the car was running a bit lumpy in lower revs. So i took it for a drive, and was as she said, a tad lumpy, bit of popping an farting, but gun the throttle and off it went. So told the mrs just to nail it as something was maybe blocked and needed clearing, not excessive 'nailing; though, just till it cleared the lumpiness. So the next day she took it out, got 600 yards and broke down, said the engine management light popped up, but didnt mention a message coming up. When i got in the car with the key in, the centre console said 'Engine immobiliser fault' (may terminologies may not be correct but wil be as close as i can). So i disconnected the battery, left it off for 5 minutes, then reconnected and the car kicked up, and drove, tad lumpy then it cleared. So i decided to let the mrs use the Discovery and ill run the 206 round town. So off i went on my merry way, and the engine management light came on, and 'pollution filter (something)' came up, so i pulled over, the car was running fine btw, turned the ignition off, back on, and kicked up again. Since then i have broke my leg, so not been able to do anything with the car. But the car was still running a bit lumpy, nothing much, but sometimes it would be really bad, like wouldnt pull the skin off a day old rice pudding bad. But drag the clutch a bit and hit the throttle it would back fire and seem ok, after about 200 yards or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated as ive been let down by my mate who was going to stick his snap on computer on it for me ![]() Cheers Westy Oh im based in North Wales btw |

Hi
I am not sure if Peugeots have the same problems as Astra's but a friend of mine had similar problems with her Astra, running lumpy, imobilisor light and breaking down . After it being in and out the garage for a few times and a few hundred quid later she picked her car up late in the evening with her spare key. Everything was fine. The next day she picked her main remote key up from the garage drove down the road car started running lumpy, imobilisor light and broke down . She used the spare key again and it worked fine. 6 months later using the spare key no probs, it turns out there was a fault with the imobilsor chip in the main key.It maight be worth a try if you have a spare, who knows could be a quick cheap fix. |

Right,
After getting my mate and his computer on it while it was running, nothing came up on it, he used one of ~Snap on's comps. We cleaned the spark plugs up and he seemed to think it was running a lot sweeter. Hes a fully trained mechanic and is his day to day job. He noticed when you floored the throttle, it was really struggling to keep up, but then would catch up and rev the conkers off it. After cleaning the plugs, this went a lot better. So we decieded to take it for a blast down the road, and when we were moving it the pollution fault popped up on the dash and on came the engine management light. When we got it back home, it was running a little bit better, while we were out it was missing an farting too. When we read the computer, it said there was misfiring on 2/4 cylinders. Now....Ive ordered a new set of plugs to start with as they were goosed...but we're thinking the coil 'rail' that sits ontop of the spark plugs is starting to breakdown, so we're going to see how it behaves with new plugs, then go from there. now ive found a few 'aftermarket' 'coil rails' (sorry about this) on ebay ranging from £40 upwards...any idea if these are any good?? Cheers for your help on this one guys! |
