Hi all,
I am posting this on the behalf of my dad. While driving his 206 1.4 S tonight the STOP light came on the dash then we noticed the temp gauge had gone up to the Max so we pulled over. Checked under the car for coolant leaking etc and could not see anything and the expansion tank still had coolant in. After around 10 min we started the car up again to see where the temp was and after around 15min the temp gauge got to the normal level and did not go any higher. We then decided to drive the rest of the way home and the temp stayed around normal but every so often the temp gauge would go down to the lowest coldest point and then back up to the middle and it would do this every few minutes. Can anyone suggest what the issue could be or what to check as i have never seen a temp gauge do this before. After a 5 mile drive it still was doing this moving from the middle of the temp gauge to the lowest but never the highest point and the stop light did not come back on Any help or adivse will be great. What temp should the car be running at when driving along. It use to sit at 89c before the issue and now it sits between 70c and 89c
