206 CC/GTi Climate Control is dead - any ideas?

Daughter's 206CC climate control panel is completely dead. I've looked through all the fuses under the drivers footwell (assuming it isn't a fuse in the engine bay) and they are all good.
No burn out on the circuit board of the panel itself. No on circuit board fuse so without metering out every damn cable to/from that panel is there an easy fix to this without being butt-raped by Peugeot hourly rates for a computer plug in diagnosis?
I'm bidding on a replacement panel ona popular on line auction site :-) but my gut tells me the fault doesn't lie with the panel
Any ideads all you experts ot there? :-)
