Default 2002 1.4 8 valve,no cat=no mot?

anyone have any experience or information about how efficient these engines are? a new exhaust manifold i have ordered emans removing the cat completely and just want to know if its even remotely likely that it could pass the emissions test?

I doubt that it will pass, as far as I'm aware no car should really be able to pass without a CAT, I could be wrong though.. check the emissions for your current tax band and see how high they are..

In theory if your engine is in tip top condition (pretty new, or very very well looked after) it should come in under the maximum permissible reading without a cat.

But it's quite a big ask of a 10 year old car.

Basically, yes, lots of de-catted cars pass their MOT all the time, whether your car does is entirely down to how well your car is looked after/tuned etc
