After having had a few Peugeots in the pass I want to make what I think is the best of two or three cars.
Base car will be a 205 XRD with 110 hp hdi with power box fitted, with GTI running gear. So has anyone try to do this engine swap what are the pit falls or am I better sticking to a tuned 306 D Turbo engine, I like the Hdi because of more power in standard from (so it is not over stretching the engine to get another 20 bhp). |

It's a lot of work, but seeing as the HDi is developed from the XUD block I can't see why it wouldn't fit.
The standard 1800 in the 205 is already pretty lively, and can easily be taken to the region of 105ish BHP through simple optimisation of the boost and fuelling.

I know it will be a bit of work but,
This may sound a bit power mad but the non inter cooled hdi with a power box is about 115 bhp and 250 nm of torque but the inter cooled motor 136 bhp 290 nm of torque (1.9 GTi has 130 bhp and 213 nm). So all that power in the higher gears will mean, that it will go like a train, but still be in a mild tune state and off the right pedal it will be getting about 50-60 mpg ( I all ready run a 406 Hdi). Which sounds like it is going to be fun, but on a normal drive cheap to run and if it is all in a 205 XRD shell with steel wheel will make the hot hatch gang look a little silly when they try to over take.

None intercooler 2.0 HDI's are 90hp, intercooled ones are 110hp. Its the 2.0 16v that is 136hp. You will have major problems getting the 16v to run in a 205 as the ecu is multiplex. I would say the way to go is find a donor car what has a 110hp engine, get that running in the 205 then have it remapped. You can get the map file from the ecu youself with a galletto 1260 cable then email it to pro_steve on Pug306.net Forums (HDI-Tuning Home Page) he will remap the file and email it back to you then you flash it back to the ecu.
I have had a 110 remapped by pro_steve (HDI-Tuning Home Page) and the power figures after mapping are around 140hp and over 300nm torque. |
