205 gti Phase 1 - Phase 2 throttle body fitted idle 4k+
Right, after having the head gasket fixed I turned my attention to trying to get the car idling right so that it was actually drivable. I replaced the S.A.D and this made no difference, replaced all leads plugs rotor arm and cap, no diffeence. I got my hands on a later throttle body which has been cleaned and has a throttle position sensor on with a different number to that of mine. I put this throttle on hoping this would cure the idle, however when you turn the car on the revs shoot upto 4k + so have to turn it off straight away.
Does anybody know if the throttle position senosr could be causing this? Its got a different part number so is it telling the ecu sometihng incorrectly? Or can I simply not use this throttle on my phase 1 engine? I do have my old throttle which is gunked up so I do have that as an option to clean and try messing around with but it would be nice if this newer unit worked as its already cleaned.
Could i swap the throttle position sensors? When it comes to electrics in cars Im not that clued up.
