So I've lost my son's key[of a 1999 zest].He has a chipless key that turns the car over.I've been hunting for a reasonably priced-cheap-way to get a new one.He has an mot on tuesday. It's just a key.He doesn't have central locking.
He needs to get a fob with a transponder in it and a key cut for it,and the transponder programmed with a code particular to his vehicle. That's as far as I've got. Any additional information would be gratefully accepted. |

Thanks for that really difficult to get hold of information-I've been searching for about 10 hours.
So I need to locate a fob with a transponder[would one from another 106 do-from a wreckers?],the codes, and someone with peugeot planet[which I hadn't heard of before]. Does the peugeot planet outfit do the cutting and programming? How much is that likely to cost? Hope I'm not pushing it here. |

How do I proceed to get the codes from you? I'll describe what I did when it's done here. Thanks again. |

So this is what happened.
Couldn't get away from the fact that that somebody needed to program the transponder-that is a virgin fob[virgin transponder unit-not a big deal]with the transponder code and cutting code, from the car's ECU.I could get a virgin transponder fob coded and cut on the internet for about £16,but it still required the technician and the gear to program the transponder key from the vehicle ECU,which meant in my case somebody coming to the house, where the car was without the key. In the event,we didn't have time to get a coded and cut fob from the internet,so a locksmith with coding gear came to the house, provided the virgin fob,[I gave him the codes provide by bettyswollocks for a fiver]and the whole thing cost £90.Car started.Great.But expensive. Moral is get a spare if you haven't got one,by driving your car to a place where they can program your virgin transponder fob,'cos them coming to your door or wherever is the really expensive bit. It never seems very likely. I think what I've learned is that the key,my key,is,without common sense, worth a hundred quid, which until this point,I just regarded as 'a key'. |
