Need Help

We have 106 bought new in 2000 yesterday while driving back home, engine light came on accompanied with the smell of a very hot engine.
I have checked the oil and water and both are fine the only big problem we have had is Head Gasket went in Feb 2010.
Would appreciate any thoughts

if the engine management light is on your best off starting there and get sum1 with peugeot planet to read codes here is a list of people on here see whos near you and send a pm
