Default Gti fuel economy

Hi My step daughter is looking at a GTi to replace her dying 106 look2 but we are concerned about fuel economy as she is a mobile care worker so she is driving all day so I was hoping somone here can enlighten us on whether the gti drinks petrol or is it not tha bad.

It really depends on how it is driven! A 106 GTI should return 35-40mpg without too much bother when driven easy.

hmm the problem is we are talking about a teenage girl who is ridiculously impatient and is to bloody lazy to claim her miles back.

Might be the best way to get her to claim! GTI's tend to be fairly easy on fuel compared to most when driven hard too. It's only a 1.6 after all.

Accident damage would be the big thing. A lot of those have seen the wrong side of a hedge in their time! Not sure about the GTI but it should have similar reliability as your look2. I've had a diesel 106 and it was bombproof.

Anyone know of 106 GTI issues?
