My son has a Zest 2 '99 1.1. It took him and 2 friends twice from UK, through France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, The Baltic States, Poland Czech rep, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy, France Spain and back to UK without any problems at all - it just keeps going.

It's tank is huge for its size! IIRC, about 11 gallon /50 litre and it does around the 43 mpg mark (a girl may get more ) so she can be 500 miles away without stopping.

The only things that have gone wrong were, leaking radiator (they rot in the bottom corners) but a new rad was ~£25 and should last another 10 years and water in the rear light lenses (cured by drilling drain holes in the bottom of the lens.)

Servicing is every 6,000 but it is cheap and easy.

I've driven it quite a bit. It is a solid and well-built little beast, no rattles or squeaks to speak of. Starts first time every time.

Check under the front lip of the bonnet for rust, even wear on the tyres, no water in oil (head gaskets can go if the water level is neglected) and proper adjustment on the handbrake.

It's cheap motoring and a good ride.
