China's Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Jan-Mar car sales up 33 pct at 43,728 units

BEIJING (AFX) - Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobiles Co Ltd (DPCA) said its car sales in the first three months rose 33 pct year-on-year to 43,728 units. Car output surged 62 pct year-on-year to 42,208 units during the same period, the company said in a statement. In March alone, the venture's sales stood at 16,500 units and output was 18,200 units, both at record highs. It did not provide a percentage change. DPCA is PSA Peugeot-Citroen's only joint venture in China, with partner Dongfeng Automobile Corp, the country's third-largest automaker. PSA Peugeot Citroen said earlier this week that it plans to jointly build a second assembly plant in China with Dongfeng Motor Group, with the location yet to be decided.
